Nervously returning to the Wheel
This beautiful green blend of merino and silk has had it's struggles to go from my hands to the twisted thick and thin strands that now sit on a couple of bobbins. This material was not combed thoroughly which meant I had vegetal matter and portions of the roving that felt clumpy. Before this point I had only ever worked with ready to spin materials that were incredibly clean and smooth, so with each stop and start to unclump and to pick, my skills were improving, but there were certainly times that I didn't feel like it was a pleasant experience. And that probably explains why I walked away from the wheel and this roving for almost 6 months.
In the meantime, the fleece I had purchased from my friend Lynette had finally come back from the mill and my heart's desire of spinning and knitting this sheep into a sweater had only one thing in the way.... this current fiber, sitting there, taunting me, and it was time. Time to place my feet on the pedals, ready to start and stop my way to a beautiful color yarn.
This evening my intention is to work on plying the 2 bobbins of singles and by this weekend, I hope to have a fresh new yarn that will challenge me not to knit it.
